The Blue Ocean Replogle Statesman Illuminated Floor Globe is destined for people who prefer the finer things in life. Created by the esteemed American manufacturer for those with discriminating taste, the magnificent 20 inch globe stands 37 inches tall on its colonial inspired base. Four sturdy walnut-finished legs hold up an octagonal cradle, which encircles the sphere. The cradle frames a full, solid brass engraved meridian, which display latitudinal calibrations. The meticulously detailed political map was hand cut and hand applied to the floor globe by the trained craftspeople at the American Replogle factory. Thousands of place names populate this blue ocean style map. The decadent cartographical display is given a modern touch with its vibrant bluish hue. The oceans are contrasted against the vivid pastel shades of the landmasses. Exquisitely colored compass roses, cartouches and legends cover this contemporary political map, along with other cartographical details like water currents and shipping lanes. This illuminated sphere is set ablaze by a simple touch to the meridian. Merely putting your hand on the solid brass meridian sends the vivacious colors of the floor globe bursting forth. There is nothing quite like relaxing in a room soaked with the warm luminous glow from this lighted work of art.
